Hand and power operated chaff cutters are commonly used at rural level by farmers,to chaff green and dry fodder. |
With collaboration of TASP, in tribal area, with the financial help of 50% hand operated chaff cutter are provided to tribal milk producers. white power operated chaff cutters are provided either to society or progressive farmers. |
Benefits | Use of chaff cutter minimises the wastage of dry fodder. | Animal can easily eat small piece of chaffed fodder. This will help in more rumination, digestion of green & dry fodder. | Increase feed in take will lead to more milk production, more earning to farmers. |

SUPPLY OF COWS AND BUFFALOES TO TRIBALS ON 50% ASSISTANCE BASIS. |
In tribal areas of the Dahod & Panchmahal District, the rural milk co-operative societies are not functioning efficiently, due to lack of milk quantity. The milk producer members are not having good quality of milch animals, in view to overcome this problem Panchmahal milk union with the 50% financial collaboration from TASP offices started the scheme of providing good quality Cows & Buffalos to tribal milk producers. |
The unit cost of Cow is Rs.7800/- from which Rs.3900/- would be the financial help from TASP. |
The unit cost of Buffalo is Rs.14000/- from which Rs.7000/- would be the financial help from TASP. |
The milk producer members has to produce his latest colour photograph, Caste certificate, recommendation from milk society and has to deposit 50% to milk union’s office. if the beneficiary is not able to contribute 50% then Panchmahal milk union is arranging loan from Banks ,which is later on deducted from society milk bill. |
After receiving all required papers, milk union arrange to purchase good quality animal outside of the District, in presence of beneficiary society representation, milk unions team of two senior veterinary officers. |

About 70% of BPL population majority of then are affiliated with Co-Operative dairying business. | Panchmahal milk union has made tie-up agreement with Bank of Baroda, State Bank of India & Gramin Bank, to provide credit loan for the purchase of good quality milch animals. | Under SGSY & RSVY schemes of DRDA, the eligible milk producer members are provided with financial help as per Govt. norms. | Milk union arrange to submit application forms along with attachment of required documents to Banks. | Banks are approving credit loan & amount sent to Panchmahal milk union for purchase of animals. | Milk union arrange to purchase good quality of then Cow or Buffaloes to beneficiary outside of the district, in presence of Beneficiary, Society representative & team of two veterinary officers. MINI DAIRY FARMING SCHEME |

Panchmahal milk union has successfully implemented the milk animal purchase scheme with, Scheduled Caste Development corporation (S C D C ),Gandhinagar, Backward class Development corporation (B C D C ),Gandhinagar & Gujarat Minority and Finance Development corporation, Gandhinagar, more then 1200 milk producers were given benefit of low interest rate loan for purchase of milch animals. After experiencing the result of these schemes, Panchmahal milk union made tie up agreement with Bank of Baroda, |
State Bank of India & Gramin Bank to avail the facility of credit loan for the purchase of Cows & Buffaloes to BPL milk producers. Later on with the help of these banks milk union initiated the project called “ Milk Dairy farming scheme” – A five animal unit for unemployed youth and progressive farmers. |

The loan recovery is made from society milk bill on monthly basis and same is transferred to respective bank branches by DD/Cheque, on regular basis. |

SOLAR SYSTEMS |
Due to lack of continuous flow of electricity at rural level, and repeated demands of its alternatives, Panchmahal milk union has initiated the implementation of Solar schemes in collaboration with GEDA, Vadodara MNES, New Delhi. |
Aditya Solar Shop | Solar power generating system | Home lighting system | Solar lanterns | Solar water pump | Solar street light | Solar sprinkler unit for Cattle shed. | Milk union established “ Aditya Solar Shop” with finical collaboration from MNES, New Delhi and technical guidance units from GEDA, Vadodara. shop is having display units cum solar demonstration viz, solar lanterns, solar cookers, windmill, Home lighting system, Solar power generating system, Solar heater system, Solar drier, Solar street light etc. | At present about 375 milk societies are equiped either with solar home light system or solar power generating system. |

Rural Sanitation Programme. |
Sanitation facility at rural level is very poor. This affects the general health of rural people. Almost 100% women are engaged in animal husbandry practices in view to improve the clean milk production habits and raw milk quality Panchmahal milk union, in collaboration with unicef, Gandhinagar since 2001 lanched “Rural Sanitation Programme” to construct good quality latrine at milk producer level. milk union & unicef generated a revolving fund of Rs.30 lakhs from which interest free loan is provided.-which is later on deducted from society milk bill. milk producer members are also contributing @ Rs. 1500/ unit. | Cement pre cast materials and holoblocks are utilized for toilet construction. | All required material are purchased in a lot, and distributed as per need and demand of societies. |

During the year 2005-06 milk union joined with DRDA, Godhra under total sanitation campaign Programme with the responsibility to cover Kadana & Godhra blocks. within short period of time >8000 applications are collected and work has been started to construct low cost toilet @ Rs. 1500 & Rs. 2000 : For BPL Beneficiary. |
Milk union has also designed model No.(3) costing Rs.4000,Lockplating model, model No.(4) Grove fixing unit costing Rs.4200/- and model No.(5) costing Rs.7500/- ,holoblock unit. |
