Role of Mineral elements and area specific mineral mixture:
 

Minerals are recognized to perform essential function in the body and thus they must be present in the food. Many of the minerals in the body function preliminarily as specific organic and inorganic combinations. These mineral elements are classified as major and trace elements according to their requirements by animals or according to the concentration in which they are present in animal tissues. It is difficult to accurately define dietary requirements of mineral because many factors affecting the requirement e.g. mineral status of the animal, form of mineral elements, genetic nutrition relationship, management practices, age, sex, productivity level of the animals etc.

Generally mineral elements like Ca. and P. are constituent of bones and teeth. They gives rigidity and strength to skeletal structure, constituent of organic compounds such as protein, and lipids which make up muscles, blood cells, and other softer tissues of the body. Mineral elements like Sodium and Chlorine maintain osmotic pressure of the body, Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium and Chlorine regulates the acid-base balance in the body, Sodium, Potassium, and Calcium regulates the heart beat, Iodine regulates metabolic rate. Mineral elements are important in activation of many enzymes – digestive enzymes. Iron and Copper are important constituents for blood hemoglobin.
Major mineral elements required are Calcium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, Chlorine and Sulphur. Trace elements are Iron, Copper, Cobalt, Manganese, Iodine, Zinc, Molybdenum, and Selenium.

Studies on some of the elements have shown that the characters of soil on which we grow food crops play an important role in determining their nutritive value. Looking to this mineral mapping of the soil and analysis of feed & fodder for mineral elements helps to know deficient elements and in formulating area specific mineral mixture to supply deficient elements through area specific mineral mixture.

chelated (organic)  mineral mixture
As we know that minerals are very much important to perform essential body function. Each macro & micro minerals have specific role to conduct vital body function.  These minerals in inorganic form having less absorption in GI tract, they have interaction leads to antagonistic effect and that is why, less bioavailability. Due to this reason micro minerals are needs to give more importance to cope up its requirement especially in high yielding animals. Microelements in organic form have more and rapid absorption, less interaction so higher bioavailability. Chemical bonding with amino acids like methionine make organic complex with micro minerals. This chemical process is known as chelation. Chelation also protect minerals in adverse medium, protect from antagonistic activity, minerals interaction, improve tissue mineral retentions and activity. Chelation is also proven to be beneficial in situation like infertility problems, stress and ration with interfering substance.
